Success!
After struggling with my old site for awhile, I decided to delete everything and start over. Everything is working well now although I've had my share of blips. The one thing I realized is that you need to rename htaccess.txt for things to work - it's amazing. Also, I never seem to be able to easily install because I'm never sure of my domain password - thank goodness for RoboForom!
I've installed Joomla and the Joomlashine template (along with the updated framework). My most important next one is CleanCache. I found a wonderful extension that imports articles so I was able to maintain my old articles and bring them into the new site (it even imports the tags). So, at this point I just need to add a few things and tweak stuff and I'm all new and happy.
I also need to remember to add an extra space at the end of articles so that they are separated correctly...
I updated the template to the newer version this morning. It requires reworking things. I'm disappointed to see that I can't optimize css with this either - both ThreeNotchPlace and RichmondBaskets (which were done fresh on Joomla 3.75) work wonderfully - I don't understand why it won't work here.
I need to make the module styles too.
I've still got a lot of changes to make but I need to get my clothes on and ready for the day.
It's been a long time...
I've recently gotten back into Joomla - I've forgotten more than I knew! I decided to update this site and use it as a depository of information that I collect as well as a record of my days. It uses an old Joomlashine template and I'm trying to find out how to upgrade to the latest version I've been spending a lot of time recently studying and catching up.
Joey went to the beauty parlor today - he really hates it. I keep telling him he was born a poodle and that's his lot in life...
There was a new update to Joomla - 3.8.1. It looks like it's improved the slowness I was experiencing in the last version.
For some reason I can't compress CSS in this template - that's my most recent obsession...
Well, here we are...I'm holding my breath.
On Sunday we had a lovely birthday party for Will - it was the first time that we've used the dining room since we moved in here. We had steak, baked potatoes, green beans and cornbread. We also had birthday cake!
